The waiting timer feature empowers drivers to manage an unresponsive diner situation without having to call Grubhub care. This feature helps to streamline the process so that you can move on to your next delivery opportunity even faster!
How does it work?
After attempting to reach the diner by phone, you’ll be able to go to there’s a problem, and select diner isn't available. At this time a waiting timer will appear asking you to wait 5 minutes to make the delivery to the diner. After the timer ends, you may mark an order as complete, and move on to your next opportunity.
But what do I do with the food?
Once the time runs out, two options automatically appear.
- Delivered to Diner – this option is always available; you do not need to wait the full 8 minutes if you’re able to make the delivery)
- Diner didn't answer – take a picture of where you left the food and fill in the description of the location in the app, then click delivery completed. This will automatically send a text to the diner to let them know where to find their food.
Will I get paid for the delivery if the timer runs out?
Yes! If, after using the waiting timer you’re unable to complete the delivery, you’ll still be compensated for the delivery as normal.
The timer ran out but I’m unable to make a selection. What’s wrong?
You need to be at the diner’s location in order for any actionable items in the feature to appear once the timer is done. If these features don’t appear, please contact care using the standard process in your app.
