Intoxicating Substance Policy for Delivery Partners

Grubhub maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicating substances by delivery partners while they are performing delivery services with Grubhub. Grubhub's strict prohibition against the use of intoxicating substances by delivery partners is designed to ensure the safety of delivery partners, customers, partnered merchants and the general public.

Prohibited Conduct

Delivery partners are prohibited from:

• Consuming intoxicating substances while toggled available on the Grubhub platform or while actively engaged in a delivery.

• Being under the influence of any intoxicating substance while toggled available on the Grubhub platform or while actively engaged in a delivery.

• Operating any vehicle (e.g., car, bicycle, scooter) while impaired by an intoxicating substance and toggled available on the Grubhub platform or while actively engaged in a delivery.

Reporting and Consequences of Violation

Any person who reasonably suspects a delivery partner is under the influence of an intoxicating substance while providing delivery services with Grubhub should submit a report to Grubhub’s Customer Service team by calling 1 (877) 585-7878.

A report of suspected impaired driving includes a report from any person that explicitly alleges that the driver or delivery person was using or appeared to be impaired by drugs or alcohol, or that the items that were delivered smelled like drugs.

Upon receipt of a report, Grubhub will collect information regarding the report in a fair, timely, and thorough manner. During this time, the delivery partner's access to the Driver app may be temporarily suspended. If the information collected yields sufficient evidence that a delivery partner violated this policy, they will be permanently deactivated from the Driver app. 

Delivery Partner Responsibility

It is the sole responsibility of each delivery partner to understand and comply with this policy, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding intoxicating substances as detailed in their Delivery Partner Agreement. By accessing the Driver App, delivery partners affirm their commitment to adhering to this policy and operating safely and responsibly.
