What is a 1099-NEC (pronounced 10 - 99)?

A 1099-NEC is a tax form used to report the amount paid to an independent contractor (e.g. Grubhub delivery partner) during the calendar year. 

The total paid to an independent contractor is reported in Box 1: Non-Employee Compensation.
